AI for Drug Discovery

Alexander Zhigalin ’22
Welcoming Committee 

Alexander Zhigalin ’22 is a Machine Learning Research Engineer at D. E. Shaw Research (DESRES) — a private lab working on computational drug discovery and biophysics. Prior to joining DESRES in 2023, Alexander graduated Magna Cum Laude with a joint AB in Chemistry and Computer Science and an MA in Chemistry from Harvard.

Nalina Moses DS’94
Vice President, Board of Trustees
Chair, Art & Architecture Committee

Nalina Moses D’94 has completed retail, residential and institutional architectural projects in North America, Asia, the Caribbean and the Middle East, and worked for companies including Tiffany & Co., Coach and Michael Kors. She has written about design, art and aesthetics for various web and print publications. Her 2019 book Single-Handedly considers the work of contemporary architects who, in a digital age, continue to draw by hand. In 2020 she co-curated an accompanying exhibit of architectural drawings at Art Omi.

Nalina studied art history, with a focus on modern design, at Yale University and architecture at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. She is a registered architect in the state of New York.

Rich Ventura B’16

Rich Ventura B’16 is an advisor to Marel Power Solutions, Inc., which is a startup in the power electronics industry. The firm designs and manufactures power stacks to sell to converter makers. The office, lab, and most of their employees are based in the state of Michigan.

Rich is a New Yorker. He began working in lower Manhattan, for a privately held Wall Street firm. He also worked at JPM Chase & Co. and BNY Mellon. Most of Rich’s career was focused on managing and facilitating the sale of loan assets into the secondary market.

Rich was a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves, and he was honorably discharged in 2003.

Bruce Cohen L ’81

Mr. Cohen is founder and President of Embervision, an international consultancy serving established professionals, young professionals, and students from a broad range of disciplines. He guides clients in complex decision-making, in overcoming challenges, and in formulating strategies to clarify direction and achieve goals.

Mr. Cohen has served as an assistant dean at two law schools, as an NGO main representative to the United Nations, as a trained mediator, and as a member of advisory and corporate boards. He lectures internationally.

Mr. Cohen holds an A.B. from the University of Southern California and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Kenneth Ebie ’01
Board of Trustees

Kenneth Ebie ’01is the inaugural Executive Director & Chief Development Officer of Black Entrepreneurs NYC (BE NYC), a first-of-its-kind municipal initiative in a major American city to help address the racial wealth gap by empowering Black entrepreneurs.

An entrepreneur himself, Mr. Ebie is also the Founder & Principal of Ebie Strategies LLC, a boutique social impact and public affairs firm that advises corporate, non- profit and individual clients on human capital, social impact and public-private partnerships. With prior experience in law, politics, City government and public affairs, Mr. Ebie brings a track record of success in driving innovative social impact initiatives at the highest levels of government, finance, entertainment, and philanthropy.

Mr. Ebie has been recognized by Brooklyn Magazine as one of its “100 Most Influential People in Brooklyn Culture”; by the NYC Commission on Human Rights as a 2022 “Trailblazer”; and by the New York Urban League as its 2023 Equity and Inclusion Ambassador. Passionate about social and economic justice, Mr. Ebie also previously served as the campaign manager for the late Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson’s successful 2013 campaign.

Mr. Ebie currently serves on the Board of Soho Repertory Theatre and is a founding member of Beyond #MeToo: A Working Group on Corporate Governance, Compliance and Risk.

Mr. Ebie holds a B.A. from Harvard College, where he was elected as a Class Marshal, and a J.D. from Yale Law School. He was a Fulbright Scholar to Cameroon, where he was also a semi-professional basketball player.

John J. Moon ‘89, G‘93, G‘94

Vice President

John J. Moon, ‘89, G‘93, G‘94 business economics, is a Managing Director and Head of Morgan Stanley Energy Partners. Mr. Moon served as a senior member of the Morgan Stanley Capital Partners team from 1998 to 2004 and then rejoined Morgan Stanley in 2008. Prior to his return to Morgan Stanley, Mr. Moon was a Managing Director of Riverstone Holdings LLC where he served on the investment committees of its funds. Prior to Riverstone, Mr. Moon was a founding partner, Managing Director and member of the Management Committee of Metalmark Capital LLC. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 1998, Mr. Moon worked in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs in New York. Mr. Moon currently serves on the Harvard Graduate School Alumni Association Council and the Executive Committee of the Harvard College Fund. He has served previously on the board of the Harvard Club of New York Foundation and chaired the Schools Committee of the Harvard Club of New York among other not-for-profit volunteer activities. Mr. Moon is also an adjunct professor of finance at Columbia Business School. He has served on the board of the Harvard Club of New York City since 2019. Mr. Moon resides in New York City with his wife, Hee-Jung Shin Moon ’88. He has two sons, David ’21 and Stephen ’22.

Yuying Qian ’22

Yuying Qian is an Executive Director and Senior Trader at SMBC, a leading Japanese megabank, where she specializes in interest rate options trading and delivers competitive solutions to institutional clients. Over the past few years, Yuying has been recognized as the top revenue-producing trader at SMBC Global Markets. Beyond her professional achievements, Yuying is actively involved in the Harvard Club of New York City, serving on the Welcome Committee since September 2022. She also served as Co-President of the USTC Alumni Association of New York City from 2018 to 2022. Yuying graduated from Harvard University with an ALM in Data Science in May 2022.

Ronald Kamdem ‘10

Ronald Kamdem ‘10,CFA is a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley and the Head of US REITs and Commercial Real Estate Research. Ron joined the Firm in 2010 and has covered public companies in the Real Estate sector for the past 10 years, including lead coverage of retail, industrial, office, healthcare, storage, triple net and gaming REITs. His experience spans all sub-sectors and he has contributed to important thematic and collaborative research including sizing the distributed solar opportunity for the real estate and trucking industries and analyzing the impact of hybrid work from home on various commercial real estate sectors. Prior to working in Equity Research, Ron worked in Equity Sales at Morgan Stanley in the Wealth Management business assisting financial advisors and their clients identify investment opportunities. Ron graduated from Harvard College in 2010 with a Major in Economics and a Minor in Statistics and he has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Ron is fluent in French and is on the Board of an Education and Squash non-profit in Harlem.

Anand Joshi ’96
Director, Foundation Board

Anand Joshi ‘96 is Senior Vice President, Procurement & Strategic Sourcing at New York-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP). In this role, he is responsible for strategic sourcing, supply chain, and procure-to-pay operations for the $15B healthcare system. His team is responsible for the overall management of the $4+ Billion of non-labor expense across the NYP System.  Dr. Joshi joined NYP in 2004 as the Director of Clinical Sourcing.  Prior to joining NYP he was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey and Co., serving pharmaceutical, medical device, and hospital clients.

Dr. Joshi received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biochemistry.  He earned his MBA at Columbia Business School, and was elected to the Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society, and earned his MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Society.

Sebastian Alsheimer ’06

Sebastian Alsheimer ’06 is a Partner at the law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and Co-Chair of its Shareholder Engagement & Activism practice. After receiving his AB from Harvard College, Sebastian earned an MA from the University of Oxford, an LLM from Columbia Law School and an MBA from Yale School of Management. In addition to the Board of Trustees, he serves as Co- Chair of the House Committee. Sebastian is also an Executive Trustee of the American-Scandinavian Foundation. He lives on the Upper East Side with his wife, Jillian, and their children Axel (6), Elsa (5) and Filippa (1).

Stephen P. Younger ‘77
President, Board of Trustees

Stephen P. Younger ‘77, past president of the New York State Bar Association, is a seasoned litigator and trial lawyer at Withers Bergman LLP. He focuses his practice on commercial, securities, and real estate disputes. He has over 35 years of litigation experience and has tried numerous cases in federal and state court and before arbitration panels. His clients include financial institutions, mutual funds, hedge funds, private equity funds, pension funds, venture capital firms, real estate developers, and multi-national companies. He also frequently argues appeals, particularly in the appellate courts of New York, and is well known for his alternative dispute resolution (ADR) work.

Due to his experience in the ADR field, he is often called on to serve as an arbitrator or mediator in high-stakes matters. In addition, he serves as editor of the New York Commercial Division Practice Guide, which is part of Bloomberg Law’s Litigation Practice Portfolio Series, and teaches commercial litigation as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham University. He has been a member of the Club since 1990, and previously served on the Club’s Audit Committee. He is currently First Vice President of the Club and serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees.

Perry Hewitt ’87

Working at the intersection of marketing, storytelling, and technology strategy, Perry Hewitt ‘87 is passionate about leading high-performing teams to drive sustainable change and impact.

Ms. Hewitt has accelerated innovation in past roles at Harvard and Bloomberg Philanthropies, and is currently a leader in growing the field of data and AI for social impact globally. As the Chief Marketing and Product officer at data.org, she collaborates across the social sector, technology, government, philanthropy, and academia to apply emerging solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Ms. Hewitt also leads data.org’s gender practice and brings a strong gender inclusion lens to all of her work. She is a Council member at Glasswing Venture Capital, an advisor to Cascade AI (both founded by Harvard University alumnae!), and a board member at Solar Sister, a women-led movement to advance clean energy and empower female entrepreneurs in Africa. She writes and speaks on topics including marketing, product management, data and AI for decision-making, and women’s leadership.

Pharma & Biotech

Daniel Kramer ’15 is a Business Manager at Rocket Pharmaceuticals, a late-stage biotechnology company developing gene therapies for cardiology and hematology indications. Previously, he was an AI Research Scientist at Tally Health and a Senior Manager at Calibrate, both NY-based healthcare companies. Before joining Calibrate, Danny was a clinical researcher at Weill Cornell using technology and data science tools to improve cancer clinical trial design. His research and writing at Cornell were published in Nature Medicine and The New York Times. While an undergraduate, Danny held early-stage roles at two technology startups spun out of Harvard: TetraScience (Series B, 2021) and edX (acq. in 2021). Danny received his A.B., magna cum laude, in Chemical Biology & Mathematics from Harvard University, and he lived in Leverett House. Danny has been a member of the Harvard Club of New York since 2015. Since 2020, he’s served as a Board Director of the Harvard Club of New York Foundation, and he became Board Secretary in 2023.
