 Your Home Away from Harvard
The Harvard Club of New York City promotes camaraderie among its members and reflects the spirit of Harvard University. Membership is an opportunity to join the HCNY community and connect, socially and professionally, through access to clubhouse facilities, a full schedule of programs, and shared interest groups. Programs range from talks and lectures on topical events, musical performances, art classes, and wine tastings, to networking events and holiday celebrations.

Regular Membership Application /  Timeline
After you apply and your Harvard affiliation is verified (please see eligibility requirements below), you will be contacted within approximately four weeks with your membership information. Contact newmembers@hcny.com with any questions.

Standard Membership Categories

Resident / Professional Membership

Entrance Fees: There is an entrance fee for all membership categories and is equal to 100% of the full year of dues, subject to a minimum of $250.00. Entrance fees may be paid in 3 installments over 2 years, with the first one-third installment due upon membership activation.

Applicants for standard membership must meet one of the following eligibility requirements as of July 1, 2023*:

  • Harvard University and Radcliffe College degree recipients including honorary degrees
  • Current or former faculty members, fellows, officers, and University appointment holders of at least one full academic year
  • Current or former University-wide Board and Committee members
  • Formerly enrolled full-time students who were in good standing in a Harvard degree granting program in any department of the University for at least one full academic year

*Recipients of certificates from Harvard programs who do not meet one of the requirements above are not eligible for membership. The full academic year is from Convocation in the fall through Commencement in the spring.

Suburban MEMBERSHIP

Members not living or working in the five boroughs of New York City but have a residence, regular place of business/place of employment outside of New York City but within a 50 mile radius of the Club.

General Eligibility

Faculty MEMBERSHIP

Must be a current Faculty member at Harvard University for at least one academic year.

Rejoining the Club
For resigned members who wish to reinstate their membership, a reinstatement fee of 25% of current membership dues or a minimum of $250 will be applied. This applies to members who resigned on or after July 1, 2020.  For resigned members wishing to rejoin after 10 years, the full admissions process, including the entrance fee, will apply.

Special Membership Categories

Signing Privileges

For spouses or life partners of Members who have not attended Harvard need to get signing privileges, for 50% of the annual dues for the applicable category in effect.

Membership options for spouses of members who have passed away at 50% of the applicable category.

Joint Membership

Members of the Harvard Club of New York City may enjoy a reduced dues rate, if you are concurrently a member of the Harvard Club of Boston (Applicable to those with individual/full memberships at HCB).  Please contact the New Membership Office for additional details.
